Job Description

Haven Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced and dependable Breakfast Cook for a temporary assignment at a hospitality property in Downtown Newark, NJ . The ideal candidate has experience preparing breakfast and brunch items in a hotel, restaurant, catering, or high-volume food-service environment and is comfortable working early morning shifts.

The Breakfast Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking breakfast items, maintaining food quality and presentation standards, keeping the kitchen clean and organized, and following all food safety and sanitation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook breakfast items according to established recipes and presentation standards.
• Prepare eggs, breakfast meats, pancakes, waffles, French toast, potatoes, vegetables, and other breakfast selections.
• Assist with preparation and replenishment of breakfast buffet items as needed.
• Ensure food is prepared, cooked, and held at proper temperatures.
• Maintain consistent quality, portion control, and presentation.
• Set up and organize the breakfast cooking station before service.
• Monitor food levels and communicate when additional preparation is needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and workstation throughout the shift.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Properly store, label, and rotate food products.
• Assist with receiving, organizing, and stocking food supplies when needed.
• Minimize food waste through proper preparation, storage, and portion control.
• Work efficiently during busy breakfast service while maintaining quality and cleanliness.
• Assist other kitchen staff with additional duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Breakfast Cook, Line Cook, Prep Cook, or similar kitchen position preferred.
• Hotel, restaurant, catering, or high-volume food-service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of breakfast food preparation and cooking techniques.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently during early morning hours.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Reliable transportation and punctuality are strongly preferred.
• Ability to commit to the scheduled shifts through the end of October.
